Watercolour Painting: Korcula

Today I would like to share a painting from my visit to Croatia during September 2017. The painting was sketched while exploring the coast on a few walks just outside the small and very old city of Korcular. The picture shows a view across the straight of Pelješac a thin strip of water that separates the island of Korcular from the mainland. At the time of painting I had taken refuge in a small undercover area during a rain storm and sketched while I waited for the rain to subside. After a short while the sun returned lighting the mountains and sea with brilliant colours which I quickly tried to capture before the rain started up again.

I extremely enjoyed the experience of painting the wonderful landscape around Korcula and would recommended a stay when visiting Croatia.
