RE: Sketch Covers

in #art6 years ago
  1. These all look amazing.

  2. What a coincidence seeing this. Literally 1/2 hour ago I bought my first two blank variants ever with the intent of starting up an endeavor like this! Any tips or tricks you’ve found from working on these in terms of materials & methods?

Thank you! There seems to be huge inconsistencies in the quality of the paper used for the covers. I typically use a mechanical pencil and lightly sketch in the piece, then ink with tech pens. Not ideal in my opinion, but it’s lead to the least amount of fixing once the piece is finished.

"huge inconsistencies in the quality of the paper used for the covers" You can't say that loud enough. I had one from Image that actually had some weird coating on it and the ink just bubbled up...like WTF?! I had to sharpie the fucker because it was all that I was confident would stick.

Sounds like the route I was going to go down, mechanical pencils & microns! Thanks for the insight. Although I haven’t put pencil to cover yet, I’m already snapping up more blanks as I get excited by the idea!
