Apple Blossom Romance
I have a penchant for resplendent vintage sheets, festooned with floral booms and gorgeous illustrations.
I think the whimsical style of vintage sheets should have a design come back. Who wants boring plain sheets when you could go to sleep on a bed of adorable apple blossoms and young romance.
Vintage sheets found in excellent condition, I keep in their entirety. The ones with rips and stains get salvaged in pieces and used in various sewing projects or sold in my Recycled Gallery.
I found this particularly sweet printed cotton fabric in among a box of cut up vintage sheets generously given to me.
A small section of the print now features on a custom ordered cushion. It looks right at home, nestled among some brighter colours.
While cutting and stitching away, I became totally enamored with this illustration of yesteryear. How gorgeous!
The choice of citrine green, orange, brown and dreamy cream make me think this is possibly a 1970's design but it could be even earlier.
These days the explosion of printed textiles mimicking the popular vintage style, makes it hard to tell if a piece of fabric is genuine vintage or a modern imitation. However, the tactile nature of vintage cotton is unmistakably soft. And there is just something about the colours.
I wish I had more of this fabric. But I still have enough left to make a couple more nostalgic cute things.
Until next time,
xx Isabella
