Caracas Sphere - Kinetic art in the city.

The Sphere Caracas is a work of kinetic art by the Venezuelan artist Jesús Soto, it was built in 1996 as a tribute to the capital city of Venezuela and further embellish its public spaces.

It is a spectacular piece twelve meters high located on the highway Francisco Fajardo, consists of one thousand eight hundred orange aluminum tubes suspended vertically with nylon strings, the tubes are painted in such a way that the viewer experiences the optical illusion of seeing a large floating orange sphere. The artist achieved an effect called virtual volume, where the work to be appreciated from different points could become transparent and lose solids.

Soto's work is a reference for plastic art worldwide, he left an immense repertoire of works such as paintings, sculptures and architectural complements where kinetic art and Op Art are the predominant, always maintaining his geometric style that characterized him until his death in the year 2.005.

Soto's Foundation restored the piece in 2.014, which required moving the structure a few meters from its original site to be better appreciated, making replicas of the original tubes, currently has better lighting, security and has become a tourist space of the great Caracas that steals the eyes of the citizens who admire its splendor.

The locals of today have adopted it as a photographic location to capture not only the sphere of Soto, but also the landscape of the beautiful mountain that it has in the background, our national park El Ávila, the photographs that accompany this publication attest to this, were taken for me on March 8 as a gift of women's day and today I share with the prestigious community of Steemit.
