Winter Pinup
It's winter here in the UK, although in all fairness the weather has been pretty mild.
But whilst I am cosied up on the sofa, snuggled up underneath a heated blanket, vanilla latte in hand, it's given me a chance to scroll through some of my work from back when I first started out as a photographer. Almost 7 years ago now!
Inspired by the pinup artists of yesteryear, such as Gil Elvgren and Alberto Vargas, I created this ice skating pinup, and photoshopped the plain white backdrop to give it an icy feel.
The ladies I photograph, 90 percent of the time, are not models and have no previous experience in front of the camera. So it is important I put them at ease and guide them with their posing and facial expressions. This gorgeous lady really nailed the pose, and it still remains one of my favourite images to this day. That makes a reappearance on my social media pages, every Christmas.
I also styled her hair and makeup for the photoshoot, with victory rolls and soft curls, and of course a classic vintage red lip!
The ice skates were an original vintage find on good old eBay, which I then added the blue ribbon as shoelaces and some fur trimmed white socks to.
The Christmas jumper and the frilly lace trimmed white knickers were the models own, and just worked perfectly with this look. And of course it wouldn't be vintage without a fur hand muff!
It's been a few years since I recreated pinup images, I think I may start recreating some more this year!
This is my entry for the Photo Friday Competition.

Creative. Oh, you have a heated blanket? Nice.
😂 I do! It's the best thing ever! I highly recommend investing in one!
Good idea.
