The 9th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art @GOMA, Brisbane Part 1
On our last days in Australia we visited the Gallery of Modern Art also known as GOMA in Brisbane. Apart from Graffiti and Street Art I´m usually not that much into art. But I do love contemporary art exhibition and have been to the Museum of Contemporary Art Sydney.
The 9th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art is a free art exhibition bringing together more than 400 artworks by over 80 individuals, collectives and groups from Asia, the Pacific and Australia.
Let me tell you upfront that it is absolutely worth a visit, even if you´re not into art. It is really interesting and some of the artworks are mindblowing.
An unseren letzten Tagen in Australien besuchten wir die Gallery of Modern Art, auch GOMA genannt, in Brisbane. Abgesehen von Graffiti und Street Art beschäftige ich mich normalerweise nicht so sehr mit Kunst. Aber ich liebe die Ausstellung zeitgenössischer Kunst und war im Museum of Contemporary Art Sydney.
Die 9. Asien-Pazifik-Triennale für zeitgenössische Kunst ist eine kostenlose Kunstausstellung, die mehr als 400 Kunstwerke von über 80 Einzelpersonen, Kollektiven und Gruppen aus Asien, dem Pazifik und Australien zusammenbringt.
Lass mich dir vorweg sagen dass es sich absolut lohnt, diese Ausstellung zu besuchen, auch wenn du dich nicht für Kunst interessierst. Es ist wirklich interessant und einige der Kunstwerke sind überwältigend.
Like most other museums or art galleries the building alone is worth a visit. I really love the architecture of the GOMA

As you can imagine I was not able to photograph all the artworks. But I have a good summary that shows how great this exhibition is.
I this Part 1 I will show you the work of some random artists first and then, in the second part I´ll show you the ones I really loved and I spent the most time watching at.
Wie ihr euch vorstellen könnt war ich nicht in de rlage alle kunstwerke zu fotografieren. Aber ich habe eine gute Zusammenfassung die zeigt wie toll diese ausstellung ist.
In diesem Teil 1 zeige ich dir zuerst die Arbeit einiger zufällig ausgewählter Künstler und im zweiten Teil zeige ich dir die, die ich wirklich toll fand und vor denen ich am meisten Zeit verbracht habe.
AYESHA SULTANA
Born 1984 Jessore, Bangladesh
Lives and works in Dhaka, Bangladesh
Sultana creates objects by hand, but makes it look like it´s something machine-made. These works recall minimalist sculpture.
Sultana kreiert Objekte von Hand, lässt sie aber wie maschinell hergestellt aussehen. Diese Arbeiten erinnern an minimalistische Skulpturen.
HANDIWIRMAN SAPUTRA
Born 1975 Bukittinggi, Sumatra, Indonesia
Lives and works in Yogyakarta, Indonesia
His work perfectly reflects what you think of if your hear contemporary art. His style is somewhere between playful and absurd. He works with natural materials like resin, textiles, foam or steel, creating ambitious sculptures.
Seine Arbeit reflektiert perfekt, was Sie denken, wenn Sie zeitgenössische Kunst hören. Sein Stil bewegt sich zwischen verspielt und absurd. Er arbeitet mit natürlichen Materialien wie Harz, Textilien, Schaum oder Stahl und schafft ehrgeizige Skulpturen.
IDAS LOSIN
Born 1976 Hualien, Taiwan
Lives and works in New Taipei City
Her Oil Paintings on canvas are characterised by fine brushworks and stark composition.
Ihre Ölgemälde auf Leinwand zeichnen sich durch feine Pinselstriche und starke Komposition aus.
LOLA GREENO
Born 1946 Cape Barren Island, Tasmania, Australia
Lives and works in Launceston, Tasmania, Australia
Lola Greeno is known for her jewelry made out of shells. Especially for her shell necklaces which she learnt to make from her Palawa Elders.
I´m not a big fan of jewelry but I´ve to admit that her work looks absolutely stunning.
Lola Greeno ist bekannt für ihren Schmuck aus Muscheln. Speziell für ihre Muschelketten, die sie von ihren Palawa-Ältesten herzustellen lernte.
Ich bin kein großer Schmuckfan, aber ich muss zugeben, dass ihre Arbeit absolut umwerfend aussieht.
ALI KAZIM
Born 1979 Pattoki, Pakistan
Lives and works in Lahore, Pakistan
He creates craftworks with different painting techniques. His paintings capture deserted landscapes in lifeless conditions.
You need to look really closely to see all the small details on this painting. I was standing there for at least 5 minutes before I got dizzy, from all these fine details.
Er schafft Kunsthandwerk mit verschiedenen Maltechniken. Seine Bilder erfassen menschenleere Landschaften unter leblosen Bedingungen.
Man muss genau hinsehen, um alle kleinen Details auf diesem Gemälde zu sehen. Ich stand mindestens 5 Minuten da, bevor mir durch all diese feinen Details schwindlig wurde.

Das Gebäude und die ausgestellten Kunstwerke würden mir sicher auch in natura sehr gut gefallen. Dass der Kunstgenuss dazu noch kostenlos ist, finde ich super.

Very nice article! I also love it visit art galleries. I'm a big fan of those clean and minimalistic rooms. And I agree on the part that you not have to be a big fan of art to visit those places. Looking forward for part II!
