Waiting for the Day the Waiting is Over

Waiting Room

I Have Been Waiting to Answer One Question

So I go to a one o'clock appointment and after sitting for half an hour I am told the doctor is running behind. A half hour later a nurse calls my name and escorts me into an examining room. While taking my blood pressure she asks a few questions, then says, the doctor will be with you in just a few minutes. Half an hour later the doctor knocks and enters the room. He greats me with a smile and a hand shake. The examination goes well and lasts about ten minutes. As the doctor is leaving he tells me, the nurse will be back in a moment to bring you your prescription. And so yes, the moment he mentioned took a fairly sizable amount of time and I still needed to stop at the desk to pay for the visit. All in all, my ten minute visit took over three hours.

The odd thing however, is that I was expecting things to go as it did. I knew I would be waiting; in fact, I have been waiting for things all my life. I have waited for my luck to change; waited for planes; waited for romance; waited for dinner; even waited for my wife to question which shade of lipsticks went best with her coat.

And so what am I getting at; well here it is, the fact is that from the day we are born we start waiting, waiting for the very thing we wish to avoid, DEATH. There are all kinds of theories about death. Is it final, I mean nothing but darkness, or is it a door to something much greater? And so this brings me back to the statement I began with, I have been waiting to answer one question.

The art I have created addresses this question. It is a waiting room. The chairs are in motion, as if time couldn't hold them. There is also a door, but what lies beyond is uncertain.

Thank you for supporting my work.

Writing and art are my own.

How can I write a comment worthy of this post?
I don't think I can. It's so mind blowing, amazing, superb!
Resteeming.

Thanks, so glad you found it meaningful.

Glad you enjoyed it.

I'm a chronic waiter too. Appointments, anticipations, breakfast, lunch, dinner - they all punctuate my time throughout the day as I wait to get over them. On a lighter note, this reminded of a standup scene :)

Good old Jerry, yes I had seen this back in the day.
