BEASTLY TALES

THE BOA CONSTRICTOR

Bret Smirkington lived in Florida, U.S.A.,
He always had a lot to say,
Even if it was mostly rubbish,
He was dirty, smelly and very grubbish.
A fat and quite repulsive lad,
Possessing most anything that can be had.
He was selfish and very cruel,
Above all else he was a definite fool.
He thought it funny to pull the wings,
From any insect flying things.
Whatever he wanted he was given.
For more and more he had striven.
His daddy was quite well funded,
From business deals through which he’d blundered.
He was married to a bitter hag,
Who he often wished he could gag.
She would scold him without relenting,
If he wasn’t immediately consenting.
To whatever she wanted to get.
For herself and her repulsive son, Bret.
He asked, “Mummy, can I get”,
“A most unusual pet?”
His mummy said, “Of course you may”.
“You may get your pet this very day”.
“But, mummy dear, it’s most unique”,
“Without a tail and without a beak”.
“I doubt we’d find it in a pet shop”,
“But in the Everglades through which we’d chop”.
“Until we find a very large Boa”,
“For there some live from way before”,
“When stupid people who had brought them small”.
“Let them go when they did no longer enthral”.
“Because they had attained an age”,
“When their size was too big for a cage”.

So his mummy organized an expedition,
That soon captured a Boa worthy of exhibition.
“That’s just what I want”, said the fat kid,
As he grabbed it out of the box where it hid.
“A Boa Constrictor is just the thing”,
“It’s the prince of pets, in fact the king!”
So the Boa lived in their garden grand,
Hiding in bamboos near a particular stand.
It barely survived on mice and rats,
So when it saw Bret with all his fats,
It thought, if I could swallow him quickly,
I could then hibernate without getting sickly.
And so it rapidly wrapped it’s enormous length,
Around Bret’s neck, with considerable strength.
Bret turned red, and then quite blue,
As the Boa constricted, wouldn’t you?
At last, when Bret went very limp,
The Boa had to work out how to swallow the blimp.
Snakes have a dislocating jaw,
And so, the most unusual thing you saw.
The Boa, ever so slowly, did devour,
Poor Bret, still clutching a flower,
That he had grasped so desperately,
As the serpent began to prepare his tea.

Now, in case you may be given to wondering,
How the serpent did fare, after it’s plundering.
Don’t now be concerned, or at all worried,
For the snake, his digestion, he never hurried.
And when, in a month or two,
It’s hunger pangs did renew,
There was always Bret’s mum and dad,
Plenty more calories to be had!

Poor little fat brat Bret, he got what he asked for...most unusual indeed. Great poem Sir.

you are screwed Bret.
good poetry by the way.

The world of Beastlybanter is a very just world, every villain gets exactly what they deserve. If only the real world was like that.

That's right, there is seldom justice in this world. Thanks for the comment.

This piece is didactic in its simplicity. I learnt a lot from the piece. The picture used is so hilarious but got the message well passed across . nice write up with good expression

Thank you, glad you liked it.

Oh! Poor Bret. If only he wasn't an empty-headed, spoilt brat. Having a brunt dad plus a skewed mom=a frivolous son. He would have still been alive. As for the Boa, it has come to stay. Hahaha. So captivating story. I really love the picture. This blog deserve the best ever.
I wish to resteem it please.

Thank you. Happy for you to resteem.

Pobre Bret, todos tienen lo que merecen! Excelente como siempre. Saludos Richard.

A dysfunctional family would always make decisions that put them at risk. Poor Bret...
