LIFE’S A MINEFIELD

The enemy set a minefield in a graveyard.
They did so with relative ease, it was not hard.
After the war was long, long over,
The graveyard was opened, to provide something or other,
Oh, yes, to again provide a last resting place.
For those in good favour, not in disgrace.
The only problem involved UP not DOWN,
When the digger hit a land mine, causing a frown!
Things tended to explode, up in the air.
And, suddenly, things were no longer there!

“We need help,” so said the cemetery warden, barmy.
“We need help, so call in the Army.”
So they called in the Bomb Disposal Squad.
Who moved their heavy equipment into the quad.
“Basically, what we have is the C.O’s car,”
“Which we drive to find where the landmines are.”
“As soon as a wheel hits a landmine”
“An explosion, Boom! We’re over the line!”
“The C.O wants his car back at five,”
“So we’d best hurry, if we are to survive.”

So the Bomb Squad drove wherever they could.
A few explosions popped the boot and the hood.
But at last they declared the cemetery free,
From landmines, just in time for tea!
