Chronic Artist Block
Don't know if it's a thing, but I'm calling it a thing today.
I've been sick since Friday night. Saturday night was horrific and today, being the first day that I was feeling semi human I decided to try and cheer myself up with art.
Deciding to wait until I had Floetrol to try again, it's been weeks since my last pour. The fails were getting too depressing to keep on going so I had to give it a rest for a while. As it was, I chucked out some paintings that didn't work out today.
The last few weeks PicsArt has been feeding my art addiction but you know me, I need to be hands on with my art to be really satisfied so I decided to gesso some boards today and maybe while I was doing that I'll get inspired.
Five boards and two types of gesso later I decided to try a mandala.
And... Nope..
It was ok but I kept rubbing the lead across the board making a smudgey mess of things and I couldn't imagine going forward and working with that so I rubbed it off and started again thinking maybe I'll just paint the mandala straight on..
But nope again... Don't know if you can see the outline of a crappy flower in the center... I stuffed it. I don't have the skills or a brush tip fine enough to draw what I wanted.
Though as I wrote that I think I know what I can try next!
With two fails under my belt in as many hours, it's time for some comfort in form of a cuppa tea and a slice of chocolate mud cake while I figure out what I'm going to do with this board.
After deciding to gesso over the green and use that board for a pour later down the track. I then thought maybe I'll start designing my "geode. I've seen heaps of videos on it and seems everyone has their own technique so I thought I'd try my own.
By layering on thick amounts of paint I'm hoping to create "dams" for the paint to sit in tomorrow. I think I'll also add glitter and/or crystals to define the dams. If it works, who knows..
This was going to be a long process of adding layers on after each one dries, which meant my art craving was still left unsatisfied and just as the Sun began to set I began another project.
Can't really go too wrongwith colouring in.. 😊
I've decided my tree will be purple with maybe teal and light green leaves. Once I get those colours settled in, I'll work out the tree house colours.
So this is me right now with two art projects on the go, trying to make up for the one (pouring) that I really want to do but can't because I'm Floetrol-less. I'm hoping this will satisfy my art craving for now lol.
Despite all the fails, it did accomplish it's main objective which was to take my mind off my aches and pains. Don't know if thats the therapeutic power of art or transference of focus but either way it worked.
What did you guys get up to over the weekend? Was it a good one? I hope it was.
