#72 : Logo Design with watercolor!?

So I had an opportunity to design a logo for a friend of mine. He is an interior designer from Kerala and now he has his own firm, which is quite thrilling. He is also planning to start a design school eventually and he came up with the name ‘Meraki’; meaning to do something with soul, creativity or love; to put something of yourself into your work. How great is this name?! And that too for a design school.. it seems perfect to me.

It was really exciting because it was something I hadn't tried before and had absolutely no knowledge on how to do it. Thanks to my friend who made it real easy and told me to do whatever I felt like and so I tried somethings. I do like typography and somehow learning calligraphy in my school days helped me here, I think.

Here I present you some concepts :

I began with ink illustrations, trying out lettering and typography. Moved along with this one and thought of using watercolor for the background.

Here the idea was to bring the yellow color behind the alphabet 'A' and keep it in that circle, which kind of depicts soul.
I really enjoyed doing this and the fun part was just trying out new things. Creativity is boundless and it's just so fulfilling to create anything, simplest of things.

I am really grateful for the fact that I get to do what I really want to do and I hope others get the opportunity for the same, be it anything. Just something that makes them feel alive and grateful for this mysterious existence.
