ArtzOne Curation 04.18.19 Thursday Shift
Good morning (afternoon/evening) everyone, welcome to another Thursday curation where I feature articles that I believe were overlooked during the week. I’m spending about an hour each morning between Sunday and Thursday noting the articles that really got my attention. Before I post this #artzone curation I verify which, if any, articles were picked up by fellow curators prior to today. Then I go through their blog history so I have a better understanding of who I’m curating.
Here’s Five articles I really enjoyed this week, now back me up—please open your wallet and help me out #art community!! Show these authors we appreciate their blockchain contributions by hitting their Upvote button.
Sincerely,
@dandays
This week’s cover image goes to John Michael Keating from the gorgeous terrain of Sierra Nevada Mountains in California, USA, a remote location I’ve been to several times. This watercolor painting got me to click on his artwork but his mini autobiography kept me reading and, when he termed the US, “United States of Amnesia,” I was all eyes. The church of Notre Dame, in Paris, horrifically going up in flames is a worldwide catastrophe that has the world collectively in mourning but did you know three black parishioner churches were deliberately burned in Louisiana, USA, in the past three weeks? Neither did I—check it out:
Padre Nuestro
Next is a wooden rocking horse built by potatoesauce’s husband two years ago, for their son, which originally was intended to be a wooden car. As soon as I saw it, I was immediately reminded of the rocking chair my grandfather built for me when I was two—40 years ago! Thanks for sparking the memory, @potatoesauce! Check it out:
Woody horse.
This next article features more emotion coming out of Venezuela in both Spanish and English complete with an attached gif. The drawing depicts a bored child who’s mother can’t entertain because they don’t have electricity for up to 10 hours a day. This article was released three days ago, followed by this continuation piece released two days ago. Check it out:
Chronicle-Illustration of an "Apagon" -Day 3 "" My phone is dying and there is no light on the street."| Cronica-Ilustrada de un "Apagon"-Dia 3"Mi telefono esta muriendo y no hay luz en la calle.
You gotta see this next one! What a great story—a great, real story. This artist had 10 bucks in his pocket, so he went down to the local bar for some drinks and ended up partying with one of the bartenders after the bar was closed. He drew this sketch with a ballpoint pen at the bar whilst consuming adult beverages—check it out:
Comfort in other skin. Pen drawing.
Last but not least is another artist from Venezuela. I saved this one for last because although this article has fewer images and just one descriptive paragraph, in my opinion, the message in this artwork speaks just as loud, if not louder than the rest of today’s features—check it out:
Polar Bear
As always—today’s featured artists will each receive a 100% Upvote from @artzone, @artzone.curators, and @edprivat, congratulations! I’ll see you again next week.
