SPEED PAINTING- Oil Painting of My Younger Sister and Her Little Boy Cannon (VIDEO)
Hey Steemit Family. Here is a painting that I finished recently of my younger sister and her adorable little baby boy Cannon.
I have been enjoy watching other artists work so much that I decided I am going to start recording my process more often. So here is another sped up video of me painting. I hope anyone watching this will let me know what they might like to see in similar future posts.
I didn't even get a photo of it finished. I was in such a rush to get my last two commissions out of the door that I completely forgot to photograph the final product. Here it is almost finished, missing the finishing touches.
In all of my recent portraits I have been starting out with a "wash" over the whole canvas with burnt umber and a little turpentine. When that is dry I sort of scratch in my sketch. Once I get things in their place my next goal is to get the bulk of the canvas covered and in the correct range of hue and value. When I have some of my darkest darks and lightest lights marked down it becomes easier for me to navigate and to assess everything that comes after. Then I bounce around the canvas as a whole, working areas that catch my eye and leaning more toward the focal points.

I upvoted the post you linked, but I will say I didn't do so because you asked me to; I will never do that. I did so because I thought it was a decent article. Normally when people ask me to upvote them and follow them out of nowhere I simply ignore the comment. I'm not sure why I didn't this time. (Perhaps because you are new)
Steemit is an awesome community with loads of opportunity, and it will be whatever we make of it. In my opinion one of the worst things that we could make it is a place to say if you agree to like my stuff I will like your stuff. I hate the entire notion of that. It seems slimy to me.
This platform is much better suited to finding interesting people and building genuine relationships that benefit all parties.
So for the record I will never like something simply because I was asked to. I didn't enjoy watching the like for a like atmosphere on Facebook and I hope that it doesn't take over here. Sharing links in a comment section should be reserved for posts that are relevant to the link being shared.
So please don't give me stipulations for you liking my content. If you like my content I hope that you will support it, but please never like my stuff as a way to bait me into liking your content.

I didn't like oil painting in the beginning. In fact I despised it. Now I love it.
This portrait will remain a family treasure forever. I appreciate work done precisely and quickly. My portraits, few and far between, take an enormous amount of time.
Thank you. Yeah I feel like anything bigger than an 11" x 14" takes me a lifetime. lol. These smaller portraits aren't so bad once you get the drawing bit out of the way. That is what takes so long for me is getting everything in the right place to begin with.
