Chaos Monkey Stele

There is so much going on in this illustration. Obviously in form it draws a lot from ancient Egyptian art, and the ape on the left of the image is indeed the ape of Thoth. To the right we have the Hindu Hanuman, whilst the face of the chaos monkey looks over.

I don't remember exactly what all the heiroglyphs mean, but I think it was something along the lines of "Queen Pandora's Box. Do not open." followed by threats of being eaten by crocodiles and monkeys for trespassers. This of course implies the central box depicted is indeed Pandora's Box.

Then we have the bull and penguin on the pillars. The bull is Azo, a bull deity whose cult worships him in the form of a mechanical bull toy. The author, Jaq D Hawkins, was apparently initiated into this cult at a Burning Man festival if I remember correctly. She then introduced me to him.

We then borrowed the technique in the form of a mechanical penguin which we used in early KIA gatherings as a representative of the KIA penguin lodge. We even magically employed this penguin in the streets of London at one point.
