Sharing and Selling My Fractal Art on Steemit

in #art7 years ago (edited)

As the years go by I realize more and more how important it is for mental health to be able to take a step back from time to time from this crazy roller-coaster the world is. And some might think that that's just a way of saying that you want to escape reality and that's somehow a bad thing. Maybe it is if you do it to often. But I think the reverse is also true. Most people go on an on without ever taking a break from the autopilot that their life runs on. How many people today can sit alone in a room without doing anything and not get anxious? Just them and their thoughts in silence.

For me one of those disconnect buttons is creating digital fractal art. I found a passion for it about two years ago. I do it because it relaxes me in a similar way meditation does. When I play with a new design I'm in that flow of creation being fully in the present moment.

Here's a nice read about fractals: Feel-good fractals: from ocean waves to Jackson Pollock’s art

So Taylor ran experiments to gauge people’s physiological response to  viewing images with similar fractal geometries. He measured people’s skin conductance (a measure of nervous system activity) and found that  they recovered from stress 60 per cent better when viewing computer images with a mathematical fractal dimension (called D) of between 1.3  and 1.5. D measures the ratio of the large, coarse patterns (the coastline seen from a plane, the main trunk of a tree, Pollock’s big-sweep splatters) to the fine ones (dunes, rocks, branches, leaves, Pollock’s micro-flick splatters).
They found that people overwhelmingly preferred images with a low to mid-range D (between 1.3 and 1.5.) To find out if that dimension induced a particular mental state, they used EEG to measure people’s brain  waves while viewing geometric fractal images. They discovered that in that same dimensional magic zone, the subjects’ frontal lobes easily produced the feel-good alpha brainwaves of a wakefully relaxed state.  This occurred even when people looked at the images for only one minute.
Preliminary results show that mid-range fractals activate some brain  regions that you might expect, such as the ventrolateral cortex (involved with high-level visual processing) and the dorsolateral cortex, which codes spatial long-term memory. But these fractals also engage the parahippocampus, which is involved with regulating emotions and is also highly active while listening to music.

I usually share my designs on my Minds and Tumblr account. The ones that I post on Steemit will be exclusively posted on Steemit on nowhere else. Search for the tag AnonimNotoriuArt and you'll find every design that I've shared on Steemit.

What about the "Selling" part in the title?

I'll post each artwork in .jpg format at 640 x 480 pixels or 800 x 600 pixels. That being said, I can render the images at any dimension I need to. Also, I can render the images in .BMP, .PSD, .JPG, .PNG or .TIF format.

But, why would you want to buy an image, especially if I share it for free?

If you buy it, I grant you permission to use it for any project or purpose you desire, be it personal or commercial. As I mentioned above, I can render it for you at ANY dimension you want.

Use it as your desktop wallpaper. Use it for your next video. Put it on your eBook cover or inside it. Or better yet, PRINT IT ON STUFF and SELL THEM! :) Or print it only for yourself or for a friend as a gift. There are quite a lot of companies that offer print-on-demand services.

I personally used some of my designs and opened a small online store in which I sell T-Shirt, dresses, leggings, skirts, posters, pillows and more.

How much does an artwork cost and how to receive it at your desired dimensions?

There isn't a minimum buy price. Consider it more like a donation. Transfer any amount you want of STEEM or SBD at @anonimnotoriu and write in the memo field: AnonimNotoriuArt.

After that, send me a direct message on steemit.chat or an email at [email protected] containing the following:

  • Your Steemit username
  • Steemit link for the desired image
  • Desired width and height in pixels for the image
  • Desired format for the image

I will render the image per your specifications and send you a download link to it in 24-48 hours. I use Sync.com to store the images. If you click my affiliate link and open an account with them, you and me both receive and extra 1 GB of free space.

And a Bonus only for Steemit users!

I'll also be sending a "20% OFF" discount code that can be used when ordering from my online shop to everyone that buys one of my fractal designs.

Cheers everyone! Stay safe and stay strong!

I can relate to the digital art as a form of mediation, wonderful work!
