RE: HOW MUCH TRUTH AND HONESTY HUMAN BEINGS CAN STAND?

in #art7 years ago

I'll start backwards. That video...... is amazing. (That grossly overused word actually fits here, for me.)
Under different circumstances, had I just seen the video, I would have simply loved it. Maybe...
After all, it is also hilarious.
However, considering the context here, having watched it, I only felt bad for the one parrot. It was under pressure, a sort of peer pressure, and had the role of the party pooper.

You ask how much truth and honesty humans can stand.... I am not sure if the word "truth" fits here.
Honesty, yes. The honesty of an honestly expressed personal opinion.
Truth, however, is a different thing....
Truth is at least sometimes this:

View points are so often crucial, that the fact that we even dare to express any opinions, ever, as if they were something holy and absolute, is a cosmic joke.

"Only Sith deal in absolutes."

I haven't answered your question.. These are merely some additional thoughts, nothing more.

Sort:

I agree about the cosmic joke. Still, the question was not about Truth and Honesty as virtues, but what importance we give them in daily communication with people we love and care, but not necessarily share the same opinion. Will the difference in taste or opinion put us in the poor position of one who suffers like the left parrot and will argue insisting on personal stand point, or...? How big is our personal 'or' in regard to the importance that a particular person, with who we disagree, has in our Life?
By the way, my character who deals well with this dilemmas is Yoda, as his wisdom doesn't leave any place to arguing.
"Train yourself to let go of everything you fear to lose." Yoda
Thank you for your additional thoughts, Sabina.

  1. Will the difference in taste or opinion put us in the poor position of one who suffers like the left parrot and will argue insisting on personal stand point, or...?
Insisting on anything is a waste of time...
In the beginning.... The one parrot loves it all and is having a blast. The other parrot seems neutral.
There was NOTHING wrong with the picture at that point, right?
It is mostly not the different opinions that are the problem, neither with people, nor with parrots.
  2. How big is our personal 'or' in regard to the importance that a particular person, with who we disagree, has in our Life?
A regard for a person can be very high, even if the regard for their opinion is not high.
