@adammillwardart : Want to make art your career? Why Style is Super important
I hope you find these helpful !
Cheers guys !
As usual when it comes to art education, the business side of art is left out lol Here's an article I wrote about the importance of style when it comes to selling art. If you think it's worthy of being on your list, there's a few other art selling tips articles I wrote too that I can link for you, but I don't want to SPAM your post with all of them unless you like my writing and information and ask me to lol ;) https://steemit.com/art/@adammillwardart/want-to-make-art-your-career-why-style-is-super-important
Hey @adammillwardart !
Thank you for your comment I appreciate your feedback. You're totally right about marketing and the business side of art. I am actually trying to learn about that but I am not proficient enough with that nor have I good links to share. Though Bobby chiu, Noah Bradley and many others talk and share their knowledge about this part of the job, I find their informations to be too introductory to the marketing (no real plans to strive). So I am still looking into it but if you know some great links I am thankful !
The best I have found right now so far is Tim Ferriss' book : the 4 hour workweek. Other than that, I am totally lost haha
And you are right I will definitely add a business part to it in the next entry ^^
Concerning your post, I should add it as well on the list in the next business links (for the time being I'll just resteem ^^)! I loved it and I think you are actually right and I wish I could learn more and dive deeper in this article as the main preconceived idea on the internet (Deviantart/Artstation) seems to be 'if you don't do fanart' you won't sell. And your post seems to show something totally different based on galleries seeling. But it many artists sell original art as well thanks to their style. Do you mind if I reach you out on Discord or somewhere else ? So I won't ramble nonsense I don't know about here hahaha
Cheers !
EDIT : just added the links
I'm JUST learning about Discord, I'm on a few channels (I think channels? lol) PAL and SteemArtists. In my previous career I managed a sales call center for 10 years. The reason I was able to make art my career in less than 3 years after I created my first painting (at age 31) is because I knew that without selling art, I'd have no art career.I knew I needed to apply all the stuff I'd learned in 17 years working in sales environments to make it happen. And - I soon learned selling art is pretty different from selling most other things. That being said, like most other things, there's ways that are proven to work.
Soon I'm actually going to start writing an art business advice column for an art magazine in NYC - they actually saw one of the art biz advice articles I wrote for Steemit and reached out to me because of it :) When that kicks in I can send the link to the new article each month for you too. In the meantime, here's another one I wrote on Steemit a couple of weeks ago - feel free to add it to your list! https://steemit.com/art/@adammillwardart/want-to-make-art-or-photography-your-career-3-things-not-to-do

Dear Artist @alcy ! FineArtNow is a new place for artists and art lovers on Steemit ! Become our friend ! See you soon !
Yes!! Very helpful xDD I tried Blender. Old user of Maya want to pick up 3D again. Kuadro seems useful!!! Heard of Krita, may be try it someday too :P
Did you stopped 3D ? I am actually trying to learn 3D through Blender, I had very bad memory about that soft but I must say, it has done a long way up since then ! pretty easy to take in hands from my noob POV.
Krita seems great as well ! I'm not proficient with it but what i've seen it is very useful and production driven ! So I guess it is the best alternative to PS and also Linux supported which is wonderful.
I managed to follow this tutorial several years ago but my laptop barely survived rendering. Now on pc I want to try 3D when less work :D
I'll try to find the picture of my tutorial's result xD
Blender so powerful >< I was shocked when I heard about it and it is free for download.
Indeed ! I tried it 10 years ago and it felt like Gimp, but now youcan use it as video compositor, editing, UV unwrapping, sculpting, compositing, VFX.... And the community behind it is still growing, it seems crazy !
I learned in university (long time ago), but finally only using photoshop and after effect for animation and compositing in work. Not so familiar with the UI and keys in Blender, need some times to get used to it xD (Getting old and feel difficult to pick up new software @o@)
Hahhaha I understand x) like Krita, even if it is a great way to go around Adobe, We're still used to Photoshop x)
Thank you, very useful information!
Thank you !
