Piotr was born on a communal farm in Siberia, where he worked in the fields with his family. When he was awakened by the mutant powers upon reaching puberty he employed them to work on the farm. Until one day Professor X arrived looking for his help. Piotr accepted and helped the X-Men to defeat Krakoa. When the fight ended he decided to stay in the United States to be part of the new X-Men.
