🔥 My 1st BIG Masterpiece - "Event Horizon" Throwback
I'm super excited to share all the progress pictures of my first BIG masterpiece painting, "Event Horizon". It was the first painting I did in 2015. I started it with a dot in the middle as the clock struck midnight to ring in the new year. It was the first 48 x 48 inch painting I did. At the time it barely fit in the room I was using as a studio, it was WAY bigger than anything I'd done before! Apologies for the old camera quality photos. lol
First session, starting the pattern. I remember thinking the canvas looks so big in my studio!
I keep building the pattern from the middle outwards
Starting to realize how freaking big this canvas really is by now! lol
Finnaally got to the edge!
Pattern is complete, time to start coloring it in.
Starting from the middle, I will color it in bit by bit, this is the longest part of the process.
A bit more color done, but still a long way to go!
I'm starting to see this piece will take me a lot longer than I though by this time lol
Slow and steady, making more progress coloring it in
Finally got to the edges, starting to really feel like I could dive into the center! :)
ALMOST done coloring it in!
DONE coloring it in! Next, time to go over the outline again, and add some details
For me this is where the piece really starts to come alive, the contrast added by going over the outline again in different colors starts to make it "pop"
Getting excited by this point, I can see the finish line approaching!
Getting there, outline is almost done!
And here is the finished piece with the outline done and some added details!
"Event Horizon" - 48 x 48 inches, acrylic paint on canvas
I named it "Event Horizon because my Mandalas represent the light inside each person. Each person is like a black hole, everything you experience, you are the only person who experiences exactly that series of events you call your life. Once you have an experience is passes the "Event Horizon" of your mind, it enters through you senses but no one else is aware of what happens in your head. But we are also like a Big Bang. What we do with all those experiences becomes the way we think, and the way we think becomes the way we act. SO what do you want to let out of the black hole of your mind? Worry, complaining, and jealousy etc..., or happiness, inspiration and love?

Gosh the detail is amazing - how do you not miss any of the outlines?
Lots of practice! I sort of work in a flow, I rotate the canvas as I go. So if I miss a piece of the outline, I wouldn't be able to build the next piece off it and I'd notice pretty quick. lol
Holy wowzas!! Those patterns are insane!!!! Awesome work! Followed :D
Thank you, grateful for the support! I'm so glad you dig my work, it's a passion I'm excited to be able to share on here.
Your Work is Amazing...Absolutely! Amazing!!!
Thanks! Glad you enjoy it :)
Holy Shit thats Big!! The attention to detail and overall quality is superb! The process was daunting to look thru. I personally, don't always apply that level of patience to my artwork. Great Job!!
So glad you dig it! I actually did another one that took more than twice as long, stay tuned I haven't shared it on Steemit yet :)
