Parasite. Pen drawing
Back at it with an 11x14" pen drawings I call "Parasite".
This drawing was pretty fun to to. It's nice not using any pencil or preparation and just letting the pen do its thing. Or I guess let me do my thing. The intertwining lines and parasitic organ like textures are nice to do when I want to let my mind rest for many hours.
Here is a pretty shitty in progress picture I took 24 hours ago. Jones soda is certainly not a sponsor. I usually don't drink soda at all, but I saw this at the grocery store and thought, "Damn. I haven't had one of these since I was a young buck." So I enjoyed the nostalgia drinking this toxic green thing. Also I listened to many podcasts while working on this piece, on my computer you can see I'm listening to Last Podcast on the Left. (also not an endorsement, I swear)
A few detail shots. As per usual, the cross-hatching of the black background took by far the longest. I also finished an audio book while doing all of that. The Stranger by Albert Camus. I read this as a kid and wanted to go back and relive that existential journey.
Not sure even anyone is even interested in these ramblings.
Thanks folks.
Stay Grim.

Sounds in some ways similar to me too sometimes:D what exactly inspired for this piece exactly?
Which part sounds awesome?
I also usually have all the things going on, podcasts, interviews etc
Works well for me to focus. I don't know what inspired this piece, maybe just the freedom of letting go and letting the pen do it's thing. A lot of times when I don't know what to draw exactly I ust sort of see what happens without any planning.
You had me with the toxic green Jones Soda; the last time I had one, in a surge of nostalgia, I went for green ... what's in that??, then
one of my all time favorites!!
Oh, and of course, the pen drawing is pretty awesome too :) That cross-hatching is incredible!
Thank you! So I guess sometimes people do read my shitty explanations.
hahaha I love shitty explanations @achristopherart 😅
wow thats gnarly. hey whats that magazine there on the right? it says SIEGE. is that the hardcore band? that bands sick
It's from a punk zine called Screaming for a reason. This is the 3rd issue. I've done the cover art for all of them. They are available in Spain. I also have a little something written about my work in the middle of it. Good eyes!
thats awesome.

The detail in your background is insane!
I love his teeth!
I love all the zoomed in details. This parasyte looks so hungry, it almost looks like it's trying to eat itself.

really nice, @achristopherart <3 amazing that you can work so much details into a picture that you didn't penciled out first <3 <3 <3
love the expression of the giant face, but my favourite parts are the strangely organic looking tendrils at the top parts of the head that kind of looks partially like intestines/brain tissues exploding outwards from the face * ___ * Beautiful~
The dark background is also amazingly consistent and always such a steady and grim noise to your pieces <3
Love it !
Thanks! The intestine like brain tissue stuff... very fun to do. But I also need to start coming up with some more patterns. Err something that is comfortable and relaxing to execute.
Whoa! Very cool work, wonderful detail!
