The love of a dog and the bond you can create is sometimes so profound it is difficult to put into words. Today, I highlight one of my pieces that again demonstrates that bond between human and canine. I kept having this reoccurring thought in my mind's eye of a young boy playing in the fields with his best friend. A time and place where getting dirty and exploring are the norm. These are the experiences we remember as "the good old days" without the responsibilities of adulthood. I can almost hear a dinner bell in the background calling them home for supper.

I also find an uncanny similarity to the final scene in The Gladiator. While be it one of my favorites, this correlation was completely subconscious. A different timeframe, different lighting, no dog, but undoubtedly similar in mood and meaning. Take a look below

It's really worth reading and the video actually has the same mood as in the digital painting. I remember the instrumental piece: "The Homecoming." Even without lyrics, some words of encouragement and the sweet flavor of victory come to mind. It's an artist's work to trigger emotions and you do it well. Nice work!

“Dogs love their friends and bite their enemies, quite unlike people, who are incapable of pure love and always have to mix love and hate.” —Sigmund Freud

·

Interesting, never really thought of it that way. Thank you for your comment!

This painting is absolutely stunning - almost fairytale like and brings back swarms of nostalgic childhood memories of playing in fields and backwoods, climbing things and being one with the elements. Such carefree days, and I think you really captured that innocent childhood essence here. It's lovely beyond words. I've also never seen a digital painting done in this style before - to the point where it doesn't feel digital. Yet I don't think of it in a physical sense either - it just is art, tactile and filled with emotion, just as art should be.

So amazing - thanks for brining us along the journey- its great connecting with other artists here of steemit and I can't wait to see and feel more!

·

Thank you! Yes, that is the exact vision I was hoping to convey. This is probably the best comment so far, elegantly written and a complete connection with the artwork. I have given you a follow and look forward to interacting together in the future. All the best to you my friend!

·

im glad its appreciated - every word was filled with intent and positivism :) i also look forward to interacting - the feeling of elation is mutual :D

Wonderful picture i must say :)

Hello @abrockman it is so friend those little animals are becoming an important part for us, the connection that we can have is impressive, they fill us with so much sincere affection, we just have to give them attention and a lot of love and they will love us all their lives. It is impressive how they move their little tail when we get tired of work or a gesture of affection make us forget how tired we can be, going out with them is a great experience.
I have two pinchert dogs Brigitte and Kim love them, they are very flirtatious they love the pictures hahaha, here I share your photography with you. Successful friend ...17265103_764430363709307_5027698160376211303_n.jpg

·

Thank you very much!

Beautiful! The warm scene makes me relax and gave me some nostalgic feels.

·

Thank you, that is exactly what I was hoping to convey.

You certainly have a real talent for this. What software do you use to manipulate the photo? Following and looking forward to viewing more of your work. I would appreciate a reciprocal look at my Sunrise photo I posted yesterday. @ladyartist and a follow would be appreciated too if you think it merits it. It is one of my favorites and is not altered in any way. Pure photo of the best part of the day for me.

·

Thank you! This is not exactly Photomanipulation. It is digital painting. I Will be posting a time lapse of how I create in the future. I use Adobe Photoshop and Corel Painter. Will give Your work A gander next. Thank you for your comment.

This is incredible. Did you do this? Really really like this work. Harkens back to the childhood days where you only understood what was in front of you in the most basic, logical sense.

·

Of course! I would never post a copyrighted image if it were not my own. Thank you for your compliment!

Your post reminds me a quote stated by Criss Jami;

Closed in a room, my imagination becomes the universe, and the rest of the world is missing out.

·

Interesting, yes, and imagination is a powerful thing.

Nice great post

·

Heart felting picture and narration! I (I believe everyone)always love to go back to home whenever I feel to take rest. Really there is an invisible tie in between men and home that pull him back and create a return tension. The video from Gladiator also is touching. Appreciate you for the great work!

Relating to this I like to share my experience with dogs. Actually I do not love dogs. There is reason for it. When I was a child, i was walking through the country road in my neighbourhood. Then my neighbours dog came and bite me without any reason. I was scared by this insident and from then could not maintane any love relationship with dogs. When I see a dog, the incident around 35 years back appear in my mind. So I always take a deviation from dogs.

Thanks for sharing

·

Wow, I'm sorry to hear that. I can understand your deep-rooted fears, but hopefully one day you can overcome to live the fullest life possible. It is scary to have a Traumatic experience as that, And I can't even imagine but most dogs are loving creatures. Thank you for sharing your story.

·
·

It is nice to return to the childhood experience. When I read your post I felt when I was infront of that very Dog. Anyway as you stated most dogs are really lovable. Best wishes for your digital drawing ventures..

You use a standard computer touchpad? Wow! I can only imagine what you can do with a drawing tablet! I hope some time in the future I can gift you with one just so I can see what you are capable of then!!!

If brother, from my perspective the painting expresses a high level of energy that is transformed into the light that is present and in the friendship between the child and his faithful friend but at the same time, it reflects peace and tranquility that the innocence of friendship of its protagonists. The same peace and tranquility that we saw and felt the Gladiator in his last moments of life. Excellent Painting Congratulations..!

Thank you for speaking about adulting @abrockman.

I am on your side with this. We cannot prevent the fact that we need to survive inorder for us to live.

The only way for an adult to go back to childhood days is just to recollect the memoirs. How I wish that we can go back to the old days where we don't need to have money every 15th and 30th, we don't have boss, and we don't need to prove ourselves. There is just "US" who thought life is just like a playground.

However, with all of those.. at least in our life we are growing and learning.

Keep steeming @abrockman!

·

Yes, completely agree. Thank you for the awesome comment and adding to the conversation!

Very nice and beautiful picture

Great content!

That's right! The bond you create with a dog is something difficult to put in words. When I was a teenager, I had a dog, Pyro, and he was not only the protector of our house, but also a member of our family. When he died, my mom cried like she have had lost a child. She told me once that after his death, she used to feel lonely in the mornings because Pyro always accompanied her when it was dark yet. His death was very sad because he died alone and we weren't there to say goodbye

Your painting is very beautiful @abrockman,I really like it

Beautiful write up😊

The picture of the young boy and the dog triggered an old mesmerizing memory of Jack. As a young girl of 7, after school, i love going to my friend's place. Whenever it was 6pm, jack does this funny thing of coming to look for me. He barks till we live for home. It was ran over by a truck a day while in its usual routine. I still feel guilty for Jack's death.
