Berdasarkan Bentuk Dimensi, seni rupa terbagi atas dua bagian, yaitu:
Bentuk Dua Dimensi (2D)
Karya seni yang memiliki ukuran panjang dan lebar yang jelas serta unik dan hanya dapat dilihat dari arah depan saja. Seperti lukisan.

Bentuk Tiga Dimensi (3D)
Karya seni yang dapat dilihat dari segala arah, diraba, dirasakan dan dinikmat. misalnya patung.
