Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the role of the armed forces, including the army, is very important for the continuation of democracy and national development in the country. The army has been playing a role in the development of the country through professionalism.

At the same time, the Bangladesh Army has become a committed force in world peacekeeping. Bangladesh Army created through the war of liberation is a proud and arrogant organization for the nation. The Prime Minister was addressing the chief guest at the Bangladesh Military Academy (BMA) 73th BMA Long Course and 43th BMA Special Course Commission on the occasion of commissioning at Chittagong in Bhatiary on noon yesterday. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that after following the path shown by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the army is holding the honor and dignity of the country at home and abroad. The present government has taken necessary steps for the development of the army, navy and air force. As a result, the Armed Forces are recognized as a smart, dynamic and prestigious force in the world court. To the young cadets, the Prime Minister said, This day is your most important day of life. Today you are going to enter a large career. You are entrusted with the sacred responsibility of protecting the country's great independence and sovereignty.

You must always be alert and ready to perform this duties. The only vow of your life will be to protect the country's independence-sovereignty even if it is through the last blood point. My blessings and good wishes for you will continue. Sheikh Hasina said in the last seven years our government has taken all necessary steps to make the Bangladesh Army a dynamic, smart and timely force. A new division has been established in the army. Extensive infrastructure development has been implemented. He said that by making the Forces Goal 2030 in the light of the defense policy made by the Father of the Nation, we are developing the army, navy and air force. Our mission is to highlight Bangladesh's armed forces in a more prestigious position in the world. Referring to Bangladesh as a committed country for establishing world peace, the Prime Minister said, Through the sending of maximum peacekeepers to UN peacekeeping missions, our country continues to contribute significantly to the protection of world peace. Our army has been able to achieve all the praise for its skills and professionalism in fulfilling the duties conferred at home and abroad. Chief of Army Staff General Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Haque, BMA Commandant Major General Md. Jahangir Kabir Talukder and GOC of 24 infantry division and Major General M Shafiqur Rahman, Chittagong Area Commander welcomed him. As the chief guest, the Prime Minister appreciated the arranged parade and congratulated the beautiful Marpast. He received the best cadets medal for his achievements in the academy. This year, 194 cadets including one from Sri Lanka and 1 in Nepal were commissioned. Of these, 189 cadets including 8 women will be 73th BMA long course and 5 are BMA Special Course. Battalion Senior Under Officer Ahsan Ullah, the senior superintendent of the company, for the best of all, Ruhani Rabbi Hamza received a gold medal for military professionalism. He said that by sending the maximum peacekeepers to the United Nations peacekeeping missions, our country is making important contributions to the protection of world peace. Bangladesh Army has been able to carry out the responsibilities entrusted to them with efficiency and professionalism. Because of their abandonment and courage, peace prevails in the mountainous regions today. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, Whenever Bangladesh Awami League has formed the government, following the ideals of the Father of the Nation, it has taken the necessary steps to make the army modern and timely. Bangladesh Military Academy has turned into a sophisticated and international standard academy. Here 'Bangabandhu Complex' has been constructed. This complex, which has modern facilities, has introduced new motions in training and administrative activities of BMA.
