We are extremely proud to announce our recent partnership with Major League Hacking, the official student hackathon league. We will be joining the MLH Localhost program to build an open source Workshop and Presentation specifically catered to ARK and Blockchain Creation. This presentation and workshop will be available for anyone to utilize for hackathons, workshops or meetups.
While it is called a Hackathon, “hacking” in this sense means a collaborative meetup where computer programming and more is discussed and taught. During hackathons there are also many challenges and opportunities for inventing and learning with hands on workshops and more.
With this partnership brings an amazing opportunity to showcase ARK and blockchain technology in peer-led technical workshops around the world. As most of the community already knows, we are very proactive when it comes to education. As such we love to engage hacker communities all over the world. From high schools to prestigious colleges, we have a growing list of hackathons we have participated in:
Being an official MLH Localhost workshop allows us to support and work with hundreds of local organizers to help their communities learn ARK and blockchain basics through fun projects and interactive building opportunities.
What is Major League Hacking and what does MLH Localhost do?
Major League Hacking is the official student hackathon league. Each year, they power over 200 weekend-long invention competitions that inspire innovation, cultivate communities and teach computer science skills to more than 65,000 students around the world and ARK is just becoming an essential part of that family. MLH is an engaged and passionate maker community, consisting of the next generation of technology leaders and entrepreneurs.
Recently they launched MLH Localhost. MLH Localhost is a workshop in a box, and a new peer-led educational learning platform. MLH Localhost makes it possible to teach your fellow hackers new skills, run community-building activities, and create a space where people will come together to learn, build, and share awesome technology with their new friends.
As stated by MLH:
“MLH Localhost was developed because of what we learned from our extensive surveying of hackers and organizers in the community. 60% of our students are not a member of a hacker club on campus but they overwhelmingly told us that they wanted more workshops, coding classes, and hack nights.”
What will this partnership entail for MLH and ARK?
As we are huge on building the blockchain ecosystem and ARK itself, we know all too well that blockchain developers and cryptography experts are very hard to come by. They are almost nonexistent in some areas of the world. This is a huge reason why we focus on education and ease of use.
We have attended quite a few MLH sanctioned events in the past, and when this partnership idea arose it was a no-brainer for both sides. It is a way for us to expand our reach while expanding their educational workshop portfolio. Not to mention, we are all nerds at heart and absolutely love technology and hands on learning, and this is where MLH Localhost excels with knowledge and outreach.
“Every time technology changes, some people feel left behind because the technology isn’t “for them,” creating a huge loss of talent and access. This has been especially true with the advent of the blockchain. One of the goals of MLH Localhost is to show everyone that they can learn any new technology. We are very excited to be able to empower our community to learn about blockchain technology through this new MLH Localhost ARK blockchain workshop, especially considering ARK makes blockchain about as simple as it gets. We can’t wait to see what our hackers build!”
Jamie Wittenberg, Product Manager for MLH Localhost
The ARK Workshop will be listed with other approved workshops from major companies such as Microsoft, JP Morgan and Slack at Localhost MLH.
MLH themselves will also be training teams and presenters for the ARK workshop. All of the workshops, presentations, projects and resources will also be available on ARK’s official hackathon GitHub along with all of the projects that hackers come up with for anyone to dig in.
We are excited to build this workshop and can’t wait to show everyone. Over the coming weeks we will be working with MLH to build everything, with hopes of having the first workshop and presentation material ready to test in the beginning of November.
