Brooklyn Public Library Central Branch
Located on Grand Army Plaza, the Central Branch of the Brooklyn Library sits between Eastern Parkway and Flatbush Avenue, is in the art deco style, and was completed in 1941. I took these pictures in 2012.
The monumental front doors, festooned with gold leaf classical imagery.
Here are a few pictures of some of the gold leaf images. Some wisdom from the owls:
This image reminds me of Boticelli's Primavera at the Ufizzi in Florence.
Amazing, isn't it?

Various classical gods are shown here.
If you are ever in New York, I highly recommend a visit to the Brooklyn Public Library.
Absolutely gorgeous - I love Art Deco. If you are ever in Berkeley, California, be sure to check out the Berkeley Public Library. While it lacks the dramatic gold flair of this library, it's a stunning work of Art Deco art in the Bay Area. Thanks for sharing!
Will have to check that out! I love that era of architectural history.
Thats beautiful, I love libraries.
