The Quebec offices of VICE, a Montreal-based avant-garde media company, symbolize a return to the roots for the company. The project is housed in a former Griffintown print shop, one of Montreal's oldest industrial districts.

Martha Franco Architecture & Design, in partnership with Roker Construction, has kept the building clean, allowing employees to evolve in an untouched, truth-filled environment. They also bet on a raw and functional design, like the spirit conveyed by VICE MEDIA.

The architects used raw materials such as metal, oak and marble, to reflect this approach of authenticity advocated by the multimedia company. They responded to the needs of the client by favoring airy spaces, with long wooden dining tables, and open meeting areas. There are also informal lounge-style spaces, including bar and banquettes, instead of regular meeting rooms.

The intrinsic values of VICE, such as integrity and the search for truth, were a common thread throughout the project; as much in the choice of materials, in the conservation work of the place, as in the original treatment of the workspaces.
