Arcitectural Photography: Radun Chateau, fairytale-like chateau with interesting history

Through my entry for today´s #architecturalphotography contest hosted by @juliank, I would like to introduce you to one of the most beautiful chateaus in the Silesian part of the Czech Republic, the famous Radun Chateau.

Found just a few kilometers outside of my hometown of Opava, in a village of the same name (Radun), the Radun Chateau is a majestic chateau that was built in the 14th century. Throughout the centuries, however, the building has undergone numerous reconstructions as features from a variety of architectural styles including Gothic, Baroque, Renaissance and Classicism have been added to it.

Since 1984, the Radun Chateau has been open to public. Except for admiring the impressive interiors decorated with renowned artworks and historic artifacts, the tourists can also visit a beautiful orangery with many exotic plant species that is located right next to the chateau.

Vast English-style parks, gardens and a network of ponds is another popular attraction of the place. The chateau´s reflection in the water gives this spot even more magical, fairytale-like atmosphere.
