St Michael and All Angels Anglican Church Bothwell Tasmania.
I was driving back home from Hobart last week and decided to take a run through the Tasmanian central highlands. It would be some 10-12 years since i last went this way and being one of those awesome clear winter days and before these roads are all covered in snow.
I like to drive along roads i have never been on and redrive ones i have not been on in a long time. First town i came to was Bothwell in the southern midlands. Stopped to have a break and a quick look around the little town.
Here are two photos of the St Michael and All Angels Anglican Church. This Church was consecrated by Bishop Montgomery in 1891. This gothic revival small country cathedrel was designed by Alexander North and built by Lewis & son and Hallet. The organ built by Samuel Jocelyne in 1862 is one of two surviving organs of this type in Australia. The sandstone in this Church was quarried locally. The tower was added in 1923.
