Fiera Milano

The exhibition center first of all amazes with its scale: 8 large pavilions occupy an area of 1 million m². The whole space is covered with a glass "veil", the bends of which, according to the architects, are of natural origin - waves, craters, dunes and hills.

This new exhibition center was opened for the design of the bureau Massimiliano and Doriana Fuksas in 2005.

The architect solved the task posed by businessmen in an aesthetic manner. From the point of view of the administration of Fiera Milano, the main condition for a complex of buildings intended for commercial exhibitions is the preservation of pavilions in the form of "boxes" and their simple arrangement in checkerboard order. Thus, the beauty of Fuksas filled the rest of the area around the usual "boxes": the main pedestrian mall length of 1 300 m between the pavilions, the main entrance, the Congress Center, as well as the space around the exhibition halls. The main aesthetic elements are a graceful transparent roof - a "cover", which is a metal grid with glass in the cells, growing from the ground giant funnels - "bells" from the same design, as well as water. The game of reflections and ephemeral designs - and the aesthetics is ready.
