Scientists have deciphered ancient records of a global catastrophe

British researchers from the University of Edinburgh found stone pillars in the temple of Gebekli-Tepe in the southeast of Turkey, with carvings cut out on them. According to scientists, the drawings reflect a global catastrophe. The age of the stone drawings is about 12 thousand years. At this time on Earth there was a sharp cooling.
Characters in the drawings are associated with cosmic constellations and it seems that the ancient people "documented" the fall to the ground of a huge asteroid: there is a version that a sharp cooling is associated with just this phenomenon. The fall of the asteroid occurred in 10 899 BC, so that according to the time of the drawings everything is the same.

This is very interesting. I am hesitant to believe that it documents an asteroid hitting the ground though. If people were in fact in an area close enough to see it then they would of been annihilated. It is more likely that a polar shift was occurring which may be leading to a misinterpretation.
