Favorite Game Villains - My ArchdruidContest Entry
Game Villains Contest by @archdruid.
At first, I asked myself what are the villains of my childhood and teenage years? What are the games I played at the time? I took a trip in my memories. TEKKEN 3's Ogre. Digimon World's Analogman, Megaman X's Sigma, the T-Rex of Dino Crisis & Resident Evil 3 Nemesis.
So, here we go:
I'm doing more than one game this time.
Images are not spoilers so avoid the game you don't want to read about.
DanganRonpa's [ Mastermind ]
Monokuma the new headmaster of Hope's Peak academy traps the students into a game of death. To get out one has to kill a fellow classmate and get away with it in the subsequent trial. That's the setting of the visual novel DanganRonpa.
he returns in DR2 more powerful than ever!
Monokuma check's all the right points for a villain: Evil, silly, adorable and unkillable. The one behind Monokuma in DanganRonpa 1 & 2 is a very interesting villain.
The mastermind behind Monokuma takes the crown as one of the evilest characters of all time. As you play through DanganRonpa 1 & 2 you get a glimpse of "the most tragic incident." Only in the finale anime, we found out how she single-handedly sunk the world into the depth of despair.
The mastermind's best scene, however, is the scene just before her death. You know how amazing she is after you see the gruesome way she dies and it clicks on your mind: She put her defeat into consideration. She wanted to feel the Despair she let all of the world especially hope's peak students feel.
Chrono Trigger's [ Lavos ]
Chrono Trigger is THE Favorite game for many people, but I don't think its main villain is... Lavos, in my opinion, is one of the best villains in gaming because we don't know about him from words but from his actions that span more than 65 Million years!
Lavos was the one who gave the humans the power to use Magic (even though they lost it by the main characters time,) so they could become strong enough to eat them after millions of the years, see that? Now tell me about another villain who made such long-term investment.
On the gameplay side, Lavos doesn't disappoint. His shell alone takes long to fight as after each defeat, he changes his battle style into ones similar to previous bosses of the game. Lavos boss battle is hard one like he is in the world of Chrono Trigger franchise.
Lavos/Time Devourer in Chrono Cross
I also loved his appearance in Chrono Cross, angry at his defeat to Chrono Trigger's main cast he merges with Schala creating a new being. Time Devourer, the final boss of Chrono Cross won't stop until it destroys all the time-space. Luckily the main cast of that game succeeds in stopping him.
The Walking Dead's [ Carver ]
Carver is my favorite non-main character of The Walking Dead franchise. He's so charismatic, confident and cunning. Good at leadership and experienced tracker.
He believes that in the post-apocalyptic world of TWD, only the strong-willed deserves to live. He built a community of such people and he's ready to defend it with all his might.
What makes Carver my favorite is that he stood for his belief until the end. Taunting the main character(s) and stressing that they're not so different from him. That in time they'll become like, if not worse than him because they won't survive otherwise.
He's human. Anyone can turn into him given the right circumstances.
Final Thoughts
I could go on and on about game villains whose story, actions or personality caught my attention and made me love/hate them.
I was going to write about that one evil character of Life is Strange, but the mystery of his identity played a lot part of the game so I talked about TWD's Carver instead. I also wanted to talk about Golbez but decided that one Square-Enix villain is enough.

Thanks for reading, upvoting, resteem and acknowledging the effort I made in this.
Hmmmm... I'm still trying to think of game villains... I still haven't thought of anything decent yet! But good picks from you! Carver... definitely would be on the top of the list!
Yeah, Carver is one of the best antagonists, his death made the parts of the story after him seem dull... I wish he stayed for more episodes.
I think you had a really good roundup of villains my dude! I liked you talking of Monokuma and Carver specifically because it's not like these villains have any magic powers; In terms of Monokuma, I know how evil that character can get to be, but it really drives the player and the characters to keep striving and searching for the solutions to the problems he presents the characters with. But when we're talking about someone like Carver, the discussion stops being about how evil or how powerful can someone get; He's still a human and he has traversed a path that has led him to this point and attitude... Who even knows if we could end up like him in a similar setting like that?
Thanks for reading!
Yeah, Monokuma always present to the characters solvable mysteries, he gives them hope just to snatch it away later.
Carvar is really a man who just wanted his people to survive, I love that about him.
