Monsoon Begins with Destruction in Rohingya Refugee camp

Cox’s Bazaar: Monsoon’s initial rain have created a chaos in the makeshift camps of Bangladesh, where more than 800, 000 Rohingya are sheltering since late 2017.
Yesterday (10th June), heavy rain were reported from the camps, along with heavy wind. It destructed many Rohingya shelters made of plastic roofs in the district of Cox’s Bazaar.

Due to the heavy wind and rain, landslide occurred in few areas, which destructed few toilets and bath houses.
Such destruction have increased the fear of transmitting diseases and contamination of drinking water.
These situations have added to the suffering for the Rohingya, whom are already lingering without proper food and medication.

Upcoming rain and heavy wind poses severe threat to this vulnerable population, where people are sheltering with potential risk.
Aid agencies like UNHCR and MSF have already expressed grave concerns regarding the situation and said lack of immediate funds may disrupt their aid operations in the camps.
