Fujifilm XF10 premium compact camera with a huge sensor
Fujifilm has announced the XF10. This is their new fixed-lens compact camera that will serve as the successor to 2016’s X70. Kinda.
The Fujifilm XF10 is equipped with an 18.5mm (28mm-equivalent) f/2.8 lens with a large APS-C sensor in a small, pocketable body. So, just like the X70.
However, it's pretty much all change for hereon in.

Firstly, the XF10 ups the resolution to 24 megapixels. It is also capable of 4K video (albeit only at 15 frames per second).
It does retain a touchscreen, but the XF10 has the focus point selection joystick as seen on other Fujifilm cameras.
The weight has been cut from 340g (0.75lbs) to 280g (0.62lbs). Which is nice.
As well as a bit of weight, the XF10 also loses some features found on the X70. Things that some might've found useful such as the tilt screen and flash hotshoe. Do you like the aperture ring on the X70? Well, that's gone on the XF10.
The XF10 uses a PASM dial rather than dedicated controls for each exposure parameter, and the rear D-pad has been removed — basically, you use the touchscreen for pretty much everything.
Fujifilm is pushing the new “square mode” on the XF10, which lets you flick the screen to switch to a 1:1 aspect ratio for Instagram-ready shots. The camera also has Bluetooth Low Energy support for automatic image transfer to a smartphone.
This appears to be a simplified version of the X70 with a higher resolution sensor. Not entirely a bad thing.
I can see those who want better images for their social networks being interested - it's just a shame that the selfie screen was ditched though. That would have been perfect.
Price and availability
The the new Fujifilm XF10 is available for pre-order from Jessops now, for £449. It comes in black or champagne gold.
