Is Luh Putu Widiasih who managed to perfect this apple toothpaste with the right formulation so as to qualify the test. With a research period of approximately six months, the student of Pharmacy Department of Widya Mandala Catholic University (UKWM) Surabaya is not only introducing Apple Dyne toothpaste to the public but also helping the local fruit farming economy.

"The raw material is easy to get. In Malang, for example. If the apple is usually only processed foods or beverages, apples can also be used as a toothpaste manufacture. This could be an alternative to the utilization of apples themselves, "said Widia, greeting familiar, when met at the Laboratory of Advanced Pharmacy UKWM Surabaya, Tuesday (18/7).

He explains the varieties manalagi choose because the fruit varieties with the scientific name Pyrus malus, catechin active substances tend to overflow. "Apples have an anti-bacterial properties Streptococcus mutans. This bacterium is the cause of dental plaque that can cause caries if not treated immediately, "he explained.

This Surabaya-born student also explains the initial process of making toothpaste that can be used by all this age. First wash the apples first, then cut thinly before drying for less than one day with a temperature of 500C. After drying, Widia blends the dried apple and sift it. "New to the maceration process or attracting a nutritious active ingredient, I use the aid of ethanol. The process is approximately one day, "he said.

From the maceration process, evaporation in the water bath will become an extract. "And later the extract will be mixed with other materials such as carbonet 940, calcium carbonate, glycerin, peppermint oil, sorbitol, and others. Such as additional peppermint oil is intended to smell like most toothpaste, "said Widia who was born on January 10, 1995 this.

Although it looks like a toothpaste that already exists on the market, Apple Dyne has advantages that other toothpaste does not have. Ie using local fruit raw materials which certainly does not produce waste. In addition, the mixture of Cocamidopropyl betadine material makes the toothpaste comfortable and not irritating. "Although the foam produced a little but this material is safe," he explained.

Widia hopes that the refinement of his research is able to immediately get a patent that can then be mass produced and become one of the alternative toothpaste on the market.
