I like singing

I like singing. Back in school, even though I liked it, i never participated in any of the singing competitions because there were singers who were much better than me. I knew i wouldn't stand a chance against them. So i held back thinking i can participate when I join college. When in college, there were even better singers and i never participated there too thinking i can do so when I start working.

Once i joined work i was again faced with the same situation. But this time something snapped inside me. I threw aside my inhibitions and sang solo for the first ever time in my life. Once i finished there was a resounding applause.

This incident is quiet a memorable one for me not because of the applause but because I finally did it!!

The applause did boost my confidence, but it ended there. I was more proud of the fact that I didn't hold back myself. I realized that no matter where I go, there may be people who will always do things better than me. What's more important and satisfying is that i do my best irrespective of the accolades and applause.
