Dingleberry the Rooster
Meet DeeBee, everybody! He's our pet rooster🐓. The above picture was him as a chick but we've had him now for about seven weeks and he's growing very quickly.
He here is a little later, with more adult feathers coming in and his crest slightly larger. Unfortunately, at this point in time his mate had already died. Although we left them both enough food and water, we found one dead after we arrived from a day trip to San Juan de los Lagos, Guanajuato. We bought them at the flea market for around $.50USD each. You can apparently sex them from a very young age by checking their tail. If they have a little tail growing, then it's a female. Contrary to popular belief, you can't tell by the crest. When they are chicks they all have tiny crests and they all look the same.
This is DeeBee today. He has adult feathers, his crest and beard, and he even crows too. His crow, however, is a bit weak and raspy, but it will hopefully get better as he grows a bit more. His tail still needs to come in, too.
Dingleberry spends his days free roaming the backyard, eating the grass and what bugs he finds along with the ground up corn we give him.
This has been the life of Dingleberry a.k.a. DeeBee. Thank you for stopping by!

Haha! Love his name!
So sad to hear his companion died, but glad you were able to be enough company to help him through it. I've had a chick die from grief of the loss of their companion before.
I didn't know they could die of grief. We're looking for a new companion for him to fill the void his childhood friend left.
