Winter is a great time to paint outdoors in Canada.

This is an 8 x 10 oil painting on wood. We play hockey here on Mosquito Creek when the ice is thick enough. It’s too warm to play today. The ice is kind of slushy.

Process.... I paint very quickly. I use lots of paint. I start by painting the wood with one colour. Usually sepia or burnt Siena. Similar to how the Group of 7 painted.

Tom Thomson is a strong influence.

I start by painting the trees, then the snow. I paint the Sky last.

It is the opposite of how watercolours are usually painted.

Damn.. I love it! You used the perfect yellows and blues. And your brush strokes and textures <33333

Thank you very much. I appreciate your comments a great deal. I paint very quickly. If I take too long I mess it up.

I don't like mosquitoes.

Me neither, that is one good thing about our very long cold Canadian winters.... no mosquitoes

Love the impressionist style of this.

Thanks.... Much appreciated. I paint these mostly for me these days. I earn more Steem from sharing these here On Steemit than I do in actual sales.

There are quite a few artists on here that share photos of finished product. What is sorely missing, is artists that document their process. Artists that share the various stages of their work, their tools, their process, and the thoughts and emotions that are going into it would do very well.

Well... many artists like me are not all that great at writing. We also don’t want to share all the secrets of our Trade. We don’t earn anything from our paintings in the real world or here on Steemit .... maybe when we are dead our work will have some value. I have created many posts that show a Timelapse of my work... they made a little bit of Steem but hardly worth the effort. I make more from converting my Steem to SBD and back again. At least there is that.

Thank god for Youtube....

You don't have to give out all the secrets of your painting process. You don't have to be great at writing at all too. You can just simply narrate how you started the painting, what inspired you, how your day went, or include photos of your materials, share photos of your studio, etc.. they don't necessarily have to be a process of your work although Steemians appreciate that. Just know that one-photo posts might not likely get a big-big vote..

Yes.... I will try to add more information to my process if that is what it takes...... I am Always afraid that my words will influence the way people see my art.
