Ha. The “foresters” (local folk) can be a bit scary at times. They are the UK equivalent of rednecks here. Lol. But we have quite a few wild bore here now. So you need to keep a watch out. They usually keep out of the way, but if a swine is with her piglets, you need to be a bit careful.
Oh wow, I never knew about the foresters. That's pretty interesting. Do they cause trouble or are they just people that live alternatively? Also, yes, I know what wild pigs can be like...I've done a lot of pig hunting here...I'm not sure if they're the same there but here they can be very aggressive. Do you guys hunt them up there?
Ha, no, I was only joking about the foresters. But a lot of the locals here seem to be stuck in the 1970s a little. No you can’t hunt In the UK really. The only thing you are allowed to hunt is pheasants really, and they are bred for it. I wouldn’t really call it hunting as they are so docile. Fox hunting does still happen unfortunately, but that has been illegal for a number of years now.
Interesting about the foxes. Here they are shot on sight. They are an introduced species (by the English for fox hunting interestingly) and now cause havoc on farms killing stock etc. and also with the native fauna. Farmers and professional culling shooters like me shoot them on sight. It is estimated for every fox $4000 of stock loss is incurred per year. I don't know how many foxes are here buta lot probably doesn't truly cover it. It's a real issue here for farmers.

Shooting Fox’s on site for farmers is fine, but the fox hunters here hunt them on horseback with packs of dogs. Although it is a long English tradition, what goes on behind the scenes with the dog training, hunting methods, and damage to property etc, It has made the government take action. They have been culling boar here but it had been kept as quite as possible, as protesters would inevitably turn up in numbers.
Ah yeah, fox hunting, the traditional horseback, type is a little archaic I guess. I have never seen the point. That's why we have foxes here...The early settlers brought them for hunting.
We seem not to have the anti-hunting protests here for pigs but they turn up in duck hunting season. I tend to agree I guess, as the ducks are native. With ferals (introduced pets) though, well, I don't think they deserve to stay. Just my opinion.
