Maidan Nezalezhnosti, literally "Independence Square" is the central square of Kyiv, ...
... the capital of Ukraine. One of the city's main squares, it is located on Khreshchatyk Street in the Shevchenko Raion. The square has been known under many different names, but often it is called simply Maidan.
The Ukrainian revolution of 2014 (also known as the Euromaidan Revolution or Revolution of Dignity) took place at this square in in February 2014. A series of violent events involving protesters, riot police, and unknown shooters culminated in the ousting of the elected Ukrainian President, Viktor Yanukovych, and the overthrow of the Ukrainian Government.
Beautiful architecture. Sometimes(a lot of times) Revolution is necessary for change.
One my favorite places in Europe :) https://vladshistory.blogspot.com/2019/09/military-history-in-kyiv.html
