The apostle Paul at the Areopagus: People of Athens! I see that in every way you are very religious. Acts 17:22

The apostle Paul, accompanied by his friend Silas during the second missionary journey, arrived in the city of Thessalonica where Paul founded an important Christian community, but due to persecution he had to leave the city and go to Berea, and from there to Athens.
And in Athens, according to the Book of Acts, something very curious happened: Paul began to preach in the public square and from there he was invited by some philosophers to give a speech in the Areopagus.
The Areopagus is a hill that ends with a gigantic marble monolith, and where in ancient times the most important council of the city met.
There Paul gave one of his most important speeches on the philosophical foundations of Christianity and on the doctrine of the Kingdom of God, as a result of his speech, some philosophers mocked him, but many important people of the city also embraced the faith, such as a certain Dionysus member of the Council of the Areopagus and a woman named Damaris.
In this way the Book of Acts recounts the beginning of Paul's speech to the most important Athenians:
"People of Athens! I see that in every way you are very religious. For as I walked around and looked carefully at your objects of worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: TO AN UNKNOWN GOD. So you are ignorant of the very thing you worship—and this is what I am going to proclaim to you.", Acts 17:22-23.
In this important speech the apostle of the gentiles laid the foundations for what would be centuries later the scholastic philosophy, with Saint Augustine and Saint Thomas Aquinas as its greatest exponents, a philosophy that would integrate the christian faith with the human reason; and Aristotle's teachings on virtue, and Plato's teachings on love with the Christian revelation.
