Places of Commemoration and Burial of RNZAF Personnel

The names of military personnel who went missing during WW 2
are recorded on Provincial Memorials at Auckland, Wellington,
Christchurch and Dunedin.

Names are not recorded on these memorials if the remains of the
deceased were recovered prior to the memorial being erected.

Personnel who went missing after WW 2 are not recorded.

Auckland: Entrance to Waikumete Cemetery, Glen Eden

Wellington: Karori Cemetry

Christchurch: Ruru Cemetry

Dunedin: Anderson’s Bay Cemetery

Bourail Memorial is located on West Coast of New Caledonia
½ mile from the Bourail/La Foa road, East of Nera River,
that flows into Bourail Bay,

This Memorial commemorates 449 men of NZ Armed Forces
and Merchant Navy and Men of the Western Pacific Local Forces
who have no known grave,

Of these, 254 belong to RNZAF Personnel.

The graves of 2 of the RNZAF personnel whose names are recorded on the
Memorial were discovered after it was erected.
