Anxiety doesn't take away tomorrow's problem, it just takes away your peace today
It is not a simple thing (nor, perhaps, possible) for those who suffer from the evil of anxiety to simply stop feeling it. There are, however, mental states that we call “anxiety” on a daily basis and that do not constitute pathologies, so to speak, serious: concerns that make us sleepy, ideas that imprison us in the future and that prevent us to live now. In any case, however, it is usually very useful to try to understand in depth what is happening with us.
Anxiety is already among the greatest ills of the century and, alongside depression (often concomitantly with it) has compromised the well-being and mental health of millions of people around the world, people who, in many cases, seeing it if unable, powerless to deal with the challenges of daily life due to the mental state in which they find themselves, they end up ending their own lives.
In response to the increase in the number of people diagnosed with anxiety, psychiatry has been demanded as never before in history and psychotropic drugs, which alleviate symptoms but go far from combating the deeper causes of the disease, have also been prescribed as never before in the history.
Alternatively, people have sought (and often found) in meditative practices a way out of the evil of anxiety. The effectiveness of practices such as meditation lies, precisely, in the fact that we become more capable of reflecting with tranquility on ourselves, making us able to discover ideas that compromise the good understanding and resolution of the problems we are going through.
If "anxiety", in any of its degrees, is always characterized, to some extent, by not taking away "tomorrow's problem" and only, by taking "your peace from today", the search for understanding the problem already it is, precisely, not a step in the direction of healing, but part of the healing: it represents a first moment of the mental "pacification" that characterizes the desired cure.
