Are people still using Guy Fawkes' image as a symbol of "the People?"
Here's a history lesson. Guy Fawkes's attack on Parliament was an attempt to overthrow a populist government and restore a theocratic one. His backers were the richest cardinals in the Catholic Church, at a time when the Church's terrestrial corruption was near its all-time peak.
His image became popular because of a movie -one, single, movie- made by some of Hollywood's elite, and the image itself is the proprietary domain of a major corporate entity.
Using his symbol for a populist cause makes about as much sense as a group of Jews waving Jihadic Crescents with swastikas painted over them as a symbol of resistance against ISIS.
