Sketching with Lonnie! Sailor Moon fanart for Anime Challenge
Hello Steemiters! I'm back with another anime fanart for another anime challenge by @fabiyamada!
Character Choice
I'm still on quite a drawing high from the last anime drawing challenge so seeing another challenge @fabiyamada posted in my comments I thought, why not!?
I follow a lot of artists on instagram that has been providing me fuel of inspiration, mainly Sailor Moon fanartists and therefore, I just couldn't help but pick Sailor Moon once again for the subject of my fanart.
I'm doing a fanart of another fanart! The above reference image is by an artist that goes by sizh and you can check out their extremely beautiful artwork here.
In searching for my reference photo I wanted to challenge myself with something I didn't want to do in my last challenge: Anatomy...oh and hands...oh how I dread hands.
Process
One of requirements of this challenge was for it to be in pencil and no color, not a problem! Pencil is my favorite medium. <3
I mentioned in my last challenge post that is has been a while since I've drawn to this level, probably an almost good ten years, so I felt out of practice. I remembered how to layout some anatomy but in the end ended up going to google to reference how to layout the human body. When it came to the hands I started practicing on a different sheet a larger version of the hands until I could feel somewhat confident drawing them on the main drawing. Even though the medium is pencil, I don't like erasing too much, I feel like it takes away the process of things you can't just replicate so easily, like my hand smudging the pencil on the paper a particular way as I'm drawing, or I still love retaining the original lines that help build up the drawing, layers on layers. ^^
I cheated once again though, as my next challenge in drawing will probably be clothing. The bottom of the dress became a formidable enemy as I didn't know how to end the drawing and therefore, ended up drawing flowers around Princess Serenity to give it a somewhat finished feel.
Thank you!
Thank you once again for checking out my post and to @fabiyamada for sharing/hosting the challenge! My heart feels young around getting a chance to draw my favorite characters on paper. Now off to check out all my talented competitors!
This drawing was proudly supervised by Sushi the dog...he might have fallen a sleep in the process, so we might have to do additional checks for quality control...
good job
Thank you very much! =D
