it wasn't good, none of the characters had any depth to them, the tone was all over the place, and it was too edgy to care about making a proper plot
Way to show me up by making a much more succinct explanation. :P
I did like the fights though. But I just got bored with it. I think perhaps they spent too much time on the myth. I didn't really feel any real connection with any of the characters. I liked the crazy detective but... It's like they were rushed and jumped all over the place to fit too much in. I dunno. It started out interesting, if not derivative, but fell apart.

That is exactly the problem. They can spend a hundred pages on elaborating the details of the setting, the myths, and the mystery, and they will mean nothing if you don't care about the characters living through all that.
