Just like everybody I was very disappointed. When Tokyo Ghoul anime first aired in 2014, everyone was amazed with how the story in season one progressed. But after the first season ended, they have continued to disappoint the fans.
People are just pissed how they managed to destroy such a great story with a poor anime adaption. In this new season, so many new characters just keep popping one after another, whose name or face we have never heard before in the anime, and the story moves so fast.
It's a different case about the manga, in manga everything is written in detail, so if anyone wants to understand anything in the anime, they have to read the manga. I personally think this is a "shitty" strategy to divert the people into manga.
Most great anime follows the manga, but they do properly introduces a character, have some link into the story, perhaps show some backstory, and how the relationship develops between the characters, but in this case, all of a sudden a new character is introduced, and before we can even remember their name, they are killed.
On forums, I heard that they plan to cover 10-15 manga chapters in each anime episode, normally 2 or 3 manga chapters would complete a 24 minutes anime episode including the opening and ending songs. But this is just so crazy, I could hardly understood what was happening in the first episode. And I won't read the manga to understand the anime, because it's like they are forcing me into manga, what I plan to do is just drop this anime because there are many great anime out there.
