Mamoru Takamura - When Sidekick Becomes the Main Attraction of Anime

For fans of the anime Hajime no Ippo, you must be familiar with this character, Mamoru Takamura is sempai and ippo gym friend, he was the first to introduce Ippo to the world of boxing.

Takamura is a heavyweight boxer who holds the title of Japan's National Champion and World Champion in two different classes. Takamura is the 2nd child of 4 siblings, he was born into a rich family, and because of a problem he was expelled and lived alone since junior high school.

Having a big and tall stature doesn't always make Takamura look scary, in fact, we will more often see a silly face with his typical pompadour hair. But, when in a fight Takamura has a very intimidating and even terrifying aura, plus an appearance with scars from bear claws on his chest, made him look very scary.

Silly, jerk, obscene like that is the nature of Takamura even though he is a Champion, you can find this in many episodes, making the comedy elements in this anime live and feel fresh, silly and lewd things involving Takamura are like attraction which makes me really like this anime.

In terms of fighting, Takmura ability is unquestionable as evidenced by his unbeaten record and the championship belt he won even at the world level. In one episode we will see Takamura knock out a bear with his fists, behind the ridiculous nature he has high dedication.

Regarding boxing, it is undeniable that Takamura is one of the strongest characters in this anime. How do you agree or not?
