There comes a point in our lives where we seem to just go through the motions of who we think we are, who we remember to be. You are living a life that you want, doing the things that you want, and everything that should be there, is there.

Then why is there a faint voice in the back of my head, pointing out the smallest, yet most annoying inconvenient truth?

“I don’t feel this as strongly anymore. This life that I wanted with such passion…doesn’t have the same magic that made me love it anymore.”

I guess that’s normal. A big part of the magic of things (an art, a hobby, a relationship) is the excitement and anticipation that you get when you first discover and explore those things. So yeah…I guess it’s normal to lose some of that magic the deeper you go into them...

…but GOD DAMN IT! if it’s not the most cathartic moment when that monotony gets broken!

Saturday night I sat down to watch Your name (Kimi No Na Wa, 2016), an animated movie written and directed by Makoto Shinkai. I heard a lot about the movie when it first came out, because everyone was enjoying it and praising it to high heavens.

From amazing reviews and recommendations, to breaking box office records one after the other, Your Name quickly became (among many other things) the Highest Grossing Anime Movie Worldwide of All Time, surpassing even Miyazaki’s Spirited Away. So, yeah…my expectations were high.

...

...and I still was not prepared.

• THE ART STYLE AND VISUALS : Clean, smooth, expressive, and breathtaking.

• The characters: The kind of people whose story we’d all want to live.

• The story:....

I’m not going to talk at all about the story itself. I’m pretty lenient with spoilers, but for this movie, I strongly believe and recommend you watch this with as little knowledge of it as possible. Cause you don’t want to rob yourself of an amazing experience! :))

Because...this movie will take You on a journey. I guarantee that.
It’s a masterpiece, and that’s what masterpieces do.

Whoever you are, wherever you are in your life, whatever kind of day you just had, this movie will talk to you. To You! It will connect to You, it will find that Magic that You once felt in Life, and it will breathe unto the fires of your passion until the warmth, and power that moved you all that time ago, are speaking to you again.

I genuinely hope that you see Your Name, and moreover, I hope You will be moved by it.
