Daily Anime Pick #46 - Naruto
Today's pick in the Daily Anime Pick-Series where I pick one anime each day that I think is worth watching is Naruto!
Today's pick is one of the few major ones out there. The Naruto series is split into 3 parts and there is still plenty to come. The first installment is called just Naruto and comprises of 220 episodes. The second is called Naruto: Shippuuden which is 500 episodes and the third one is Boruto: Naruto Next Generation that includes at the time of writing 46 episodes but is still ongoing.
The uniqueness of the Naruto series is that you can watch Naruto grow from childhood into adultery where he even has children. The three installments are direct continuations so it starts with Naruto's childhood and currently has switched perspective to his son Boruto.
The setting is a world of shinobi, ninjas, and Naruto is becoming one of them. The series starts in off in an age that is approximately one century before our time and arrives at a technology centered age in Boruto: Naruto Next Generation.
Below you'll find the three installments covered with an introduction, pictures, my favorite opening and its stats.
Naruto
In the first installment you'll follow Naruto Uzumaki a young boy whose parents have already passed away. He is the son of the forth Hokage, the ruler of his village Konohagakure. Additionally a dangerous creature, the Kyuubi, has been sealed inside his body. That is the reason why the people in his village are avoiding him. He spends his time causing trouble for the village seeking the attention that he never got. His way of life changes as he enters the ninja academy to become a full-fledged ninja. He strives to become Hokage even though he is resented by the village. It's his strong will that never makes him give up that makes him keep going. During his times in the academy he'll be faced with various dangers and hurdles to overcome preparing him for what is to come.
In 220 episodes you'll see Naruto make dear friends he never had and growing stronger. It really is exciting to see him struggle never giving up.
But Naruto is not the only one you are going to see in the focus. The anime switches perspective often and since there are a lot of characters you are in for much variety. The most important characters besides Naruto are Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno. Sasuke has also lost his parents and inherited a visual power called Sharingan. His parents were slaughtered by his older brother Itachi Uchiha and Sasuke strives to take revenge. Sakura is deeply in love with Sasuke but it is a one sided thing. Exactly the same situation with Naruto since he likes Sakura.
Eventually Sasuke is offered power by a shady man called Orochimaru which makes him desert the village. In order to get back Sasuke Naruto realizes that he needs to become stronger making him go on a training trip.
Description
Moments prior to Naruto Uzumaki's birth, a huge demon known as the Kyuubi, the Nine-Tailed Fox, attacked Konohagakure, the Hidden Leaf Village, and wreaked havoc. In order to put an end to the Kyuubi's rampage, the leader of the village, the Fourth Hokage, sacrificed his life and sealed the monstrous beast inside the newborn Naruto.
Now, Naruto is a hyperactive and knuckle-headed ninja still living in Konohagakure. Shunned because of the Kyuubi inside him, Naruto struggles to find his place in the village, while his burning desire to become the Hokage of Konohagakure leads him not only to some great new friends, but also some deadly foes.

After the end of the Fourth Shinobi World War an age of peace overcomes the village. This leads to great prosperity and technological advancement. Naruto has reached his goal of becoming Hokage and is now leading the village. His son Boruto is like him being trained to become a full-fledged ninja. Boruto is a natural who does need to struggle as hard as Naruto did making him very self confident. While on the surface everything's peaceful in the background seethes a new great danger that will hit the new ninja generation Boruto is in.
Description
Following the successful end of the Fourth Shinobi World War, Konohagakure has been enjoying a period of peace, prosperity, and extraordinary technological advancement. This is all due to the efforts of the Allied Shinobi Forces and the village's Seventh Hokage, Naruto Uzumaki. Now resembling a modern metropolis, Konohagakure has changed, particularly the life of a shinobi. Under the watchful eye of Naruto and his old comrades, a new generation of shinobi has stepped up to learn the ways of the ninja.
Boruto Uzumaki is often the center of attention as the son of the Seventh Hokage. Despite having inherited Naruto's boisterous and stubborn demeanor, Boruto is considered a prodigy and is able to unleash his potential with the help of supportive friends and family. Unfortunately, this has only worsened his arrogance and his desire to surpass Naruto which, along with his father's busy lifestyle, has strained their relationship. However, a sinister force brewing within the village may threaten Boruto's carefree life.
New friends and familiar faces join Boruto as a new story begins in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations.

There's a Naruto prequel? My gosh i haven't been watching any anime lately except Magic Knight Rayearth. Lol
There is Naruto, Naruto: Shippuuden and Boruto: Naruto Next Generations in this order. So there is no Naruto prequel if you meant it like that.
Well you wrote it. I got confused. So there. 😂
I know the order but that writing just got me confused, the way the prequel word was put on there. Now I know you just meant that Naruto is the prequel of Naruto Shippuuden. 😂
Early Naruto (pre-timeskip) is actually quite good. Shippuden was a complete disaster which contradicted the message in the first series and undermined every good thing the show had done to that point.
I often recommend pre-timeskip Naruto to people looking for a good action show. It's far better than My Hero Academia.
This is the first time I've seen you write quite good. What was the message of Naruto according to you?
The rejection of fate and destiny, and that hard work is worth it, even if it can't always beat talent. A major thing that Naruto did that a lot of other battle shounen did not do is have the good guys lose some of the time. A lot of battle shounen have a small loss, but an overall win later. Naruto didn't do that because things can't always work out.
There were some failures and Pyrrhic victories in Hunter x Hunter, but the good guys won in every arc. Hunter x Hunter is better than Naruto, but Naruto is definitely not a trashy show until after episode 135.
I see what you mean. Naruto starts off with lots of hardships and struggles and thins out to the end in that regard.
