Jenkinrocket's Top Ten (Semi) Obscure Anime #10: Ergo Proxy
There are some anime that stick with you for days after having finished them. When the anime is popular this is great, because now you can go and talk about it with all of your friends! But what if the anime isn't popular? Now when you bring it up, people furl their brows, shrug, and say "never heard of it."
I'm always looking for good anime that's gotten buried in the pile of popular stuff, but I've been through the pile myself and have come up with a few that seem to have never quite landed in popular view. Throughout the day I'll be listing them, and just now we start with #10: Ergo Proxy.
Remember that anime I was talking about in the first paragraph? That's Ergo Proxy. It's a post-apocalyptic sci-fi show that is as beautiful and elegant as it is melancholy and tense. The main character, Re-L Mayer, is a high status citizen and daughter of the man who controls their entire city, a last stand sanctuary against the ravaged wasteland outside its protective dome.
Each citizen is assigned a companion humanoid robot to help them in all matters, and the people in the society are quite dependent on them. The other main character, Vincent Law, is an immigrant who works hard to take down infected robots to gain the coveted status of citizen.
Together, as the Cogito virus spreads from robot to robot and a secret that the city has been harboring begins to savagely kill citizens, they must unravel the mystery of what is happening. It starts with a word:
Proxy.
Don't miss out on this one, folks. Stay tuned for # 9 in a bit.
Thank you so much for reading! If you enjoyed this post, please, please, please upvote and resteem! Every bit helps!

I remember that anime, I liked it but it was sort of complex and slow and didn't really get to the entirety of it all unfortunately. But the animation was superb.
Yeah, it is sort of a slow burn. There are some higher on the list you might find more your speed, however.
I really like Psycho-Pass specially the movie. Looking at a neo-thailand or some asian development country but futuristic, was some great trip.
